maypcat-ldap-wrapper

maypcat-ldap-wrapper is a wrapper / ypcat-replacement script for your silent nis 2 ldap (e. g. Sun Java Enterprise Directory Server ) migration. In some large historical environment where the creator of some sendmail and automatic user scripts has long long gone, and you need now _very_ quick migrate from nis to ldap ( e.g . because of the f..k..g m$ active directory ) this a a way where your old scripts that does "ypcat" commands can live even after nis has shut down...
Furthermore you can configure this script to use it as a simple ldap-search mechanism...

The primary goal is to have
  • the exact output of your ldap tree in a ypcat format as you expect it from ypcat itself!
To install it, simple donwload the tar.gz into a directory of your choice, then change into your destination directory ( here /opt )
After extraction the tar.gz, please - and i really mean it!, read the README. Because it won't work until you correctly configure it ( you need you ldap-server-uri, ldap-access-user and password, base_dn, search_dn )
It is preconfigured with a brunch of standard options, but i'm sure, noone has a "standard" ldap installation....

I have to say, There is no support (of course, i do it in my rare spare time...) and i'm sure, noone will support for this script!!!
